Job summary

Denver Health seeks a Patient Access Specialist to be the first point of contact across outpatient clinic registration areas. You will register and check in patients, verify insurance, explain financial responsibilities, collect point-of-service payments, and maintain accurate patient information in the EHR.

You will collaborate with clinic leadership, providers, and scheduling staff to promote timely access to care and efficient clinic flow, with flexible coverage across clinics as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to accurately register and check in patients, collect payments, and verify insurance.
• Strong communication about financial responsibilities with patients and families.
• Capable of supporting efficient clinic flow and cross-department coordination.
• Comfort with using EHR and payer portals to verify eligibility and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Register and check in patients for outpatient services; verify demographics and insurance information.
• Explain co-pays, deductibles, deposits, and self-pay expectations; collect payments.
• Coordinate with leadership, providers, scheduling, and support teams to maintain clinic flow.
• Check insurance eligibility and benefits; identify coverage limitations and authorization requirements.
• Meet productivity, quality, and accuracy standards and participate in audits and process improvements.
• Provide coverage across departments as needed and assist new hires with training.
