Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Access/Registration staff member to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance information, and schedule visits to optimize clinic flow. You will handle pre-registration and registration, obtain payments, and ensure accuracy and confidentiality in line with hospital policies.

Responsibilities include meeting productivity metrics, verifying insurance, processing payments, and assisting patients with funding sources when needed,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One (1) year of customer service experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred.
• Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and update demographic and insurance information for all patients.
• Meet standard productivity metrics while performing the pre-registration and registration process.
• Complete all regulatory and compliance related forms for the visit.
• Complete verification and payment workflow, including screening for potential funding sources, and setting patient expectations for reimbursement.
• Demonstrate commitment to positive patient and family experiences and excellence in customer service.
