Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access specialist to perform scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, authorization and referral validation, and pre-serviceability estimations. You will collect and verify patient data, explain financial responsibilities, and help ensure timely and accurate bill submission.

In this role you will maintain strong, collaborative relationships with patients, AHN leadership and physician offices, while adhering to privacy and compliance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Responsibilities

• Schedules and pre-registers patients; validates demographic data and verifies benefits.
• Verifies insurance information and coordinates authorization/referral needs with payors and physician offices.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates amounts, collects payments, and reconciles transactions.
• Delivers a positive patient experience and maintains strong working relationships with patients, AHN staff, and external contacts.
• Supports productivity goals and suggests process improvements when appropriate.
• Adheres to AHN policies and completes mandatory trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
