Job summary

Corewell Health's Wayne site seeks a part-time Patient Access Registrar to accurately register patients, gather biographical data, and support multiple departments including emergency, outpatient, and labs. This role rotates shifts—days, afternoons, midnights—and weekends every other, with mandatory orientation.

You will use Microsoft Office and various health information systems while maintaining HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 CPT coding, medical terminology, and/or revenue cycle knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge and experience with information systems, spreadsheet/word processing software, and keyboard proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately, obtain insurance and demographic data, and enter information for billing accuracy.
• Schedule appointments and perform pre-registration as needed across departments (including ED, outpatient, labs).
• Answer phones and direct calls courteously.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant communication with patients and families.
• Prepare patient liability estimates for services and walk-ins.
• Assist with authorizations for imaging protocols as required.
• Transport and escort patients as needed.
