Job summary

Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall in Cornwall, NY is seeking an Associate Patient Access to join the Pre-Access Center. This full-time role handles patient demographics, insurance information, and scheduling workflow.

The incumbent will verify insurance eligibility, determine patient financial responsibilities, process referrals and authorizations, and enter data into the Hospital Information System, ensuring compliance with JC, DOH, and medical staff bylaws.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; AA/AS preferred.
• Three years of patient registration or patient accounting experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
• Experience with Windows-based software; ability to learn new processes quickly.
• In absence of an Associate degree, combination of healthcare finance or healthcare access certification (CHAA) or relevant experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic and insurance information for patients.
• Manage referrals, authorizations, Pre-Registration and Scheduling; transition inquiries to service lines.
• Enter patient information into Hospital Information System and verify insurance eligibility.
• Identify out-of-pocket costs and communicate cash requirements to staff and patients before service date.
• Ensure compliance with JC, DOH standards and medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
