Job summary

Highpoint Health- Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Registrar to support outpatient services by collecting patient demographic and insurance information, handling co-pays and deductibles, and expediting the registration process while providing a positive first impression of the hospital. Reports to: Director of Patient Access.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; Associate's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and enters patient demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
• Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
• Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation, and to address questions.
• Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other personnel regarding admission to exchange information and determine placement.
• Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary; determines and accepts required payments or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
