Job summary

Sentara Health in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Patient Access Representative for a part-time day shift. You will register patients, verify identity, review schedules, scan documents, enter demographic and insurance data into the EHR, and explain and collect co-pays and deposits.

You will greet patients, answer questions, and ensure timely arrival to service areas. Some scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties may apply.

Qualifications

• 2 years customer service or data entry experience required.
• Proficiency in computer keyboarding (typing) required.
• Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify identity and correct record.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register for services.
• Enter demographic and insurance information in the EHR accurately.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits and balances; handle transactions securely.
• Greet patients and families, answer questions, coordinate with service areas.
