Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Access Services Representative 2 in Texas to collect demographics and insurance information for patient registration. You will verify benefits, determine patient financial responsibilities, and cross-train across areas to support the patient experience.

The role emphasizes empathy, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while assisting patients with insurance and billing needs in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills, and professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful environments including trauma.
• Demonstrates high empathy and communicates well with patients and families.
• Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities effectively.
• Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Knows the patient flow processes in each area.
• Identifies process improvements to promote team concepts and improve revenue cycle and patient experience.
• Interacts with other areas to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and calculates patient liability per policies.
• Establishes patient deposit requirements and negotiates payment arrangements.
• May perform cashiering duties following policies.
• Assists patients to nursing units with directions or mobility aid.
• Adheres to compliance for order validation and safety requirements.
• Conducts training and serves as a resource to others.
• Performs revenue cycle duties at multiple areas/locations.
