Job summary

MUHA is seeking an Admissions Clerk to process patient preadmission and admission demographics and insurance data. You will enter information into the hospital system, ensure accuracy, and liaise between patients, financial counselors, and patient accounting.

In this role you will support registration workflows, assist with inquiries, and help maintain compliance with state and federal policies. A focus on patient experience and data quality is essential in this team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of customer service or health care experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred.
• Experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Patient Access staff with registration procedures, insurance verification, and customer service best practices.
• Serve as SME in patient access workflows, policies, and procedures for staff support.
• Coordinate patient flow and scheduling to ensure accurate registration and check-in processes.
• Handle escalated patient inquiries or complaints and provide resolutions to improve satisfaction.
• Collaborate with clinical departments to address patient care needs and improve access processes.
• Conduct quality assurance audits of patient registration data and insurance information for accuracy and compliance.
• Contribute to staff training and ongoing education on patient access policies.
• Monitor KPIs related to registration accuracy, wait times, and patient satisfaction.
• Participate in departmental meetings to improve efficiency and patient experience.
