Dermatology Consultants PC in Minnesota is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to handle appointment scheduling, patient registration, and insurance verification at our East Metro clinics. This role supports front-desk operations and provides friendly, patient-centered service.

This position offers remote or hybrid options, with on-site work at four clinic locations as needed; travel between sites is expected to ensure smooth scheduling and coverage.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years’ experience in scheduling or reception in a healthcare setting.
• Experience scheduling appointments, registering patients, and obtaining/verifying insurance information
• Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients on the phone
• Willingness to travel to four East Metro clinic locations as a float receptionist
• Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
• Familiarity with Cerner scheduling system

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered customer service, using a multi-line telephone in a pleasant manner
• Schedule patient appointments using the computerized scheduling system (Cerner) which best meet the needs of the patient in adherence with our physicians’ schedule and availability
• Register patients, verify and update patient data, prepare necessary confirmation letters, welcome packets and forms to send to patients
• Verify insurance eligibility
• Reschedule and cancel appointments as needed
• Occasionally work as a Float Medical Receptionist at the Front Desk in any of the four clinic locations
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information
• Other clerical duties as assigned such as online appointment requests, scheduling interpreters, patient portal invitations and referrals

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for making appointments for patients following Dermatology Consultants’ procedures. The Patient Access Specialist assists patients on the telephone, schedules appointments, gathers accurate demographic information and insurance information, and registers patients. This position offers flexibility with remote or hybrid work options.

Minimum Education Required

• Ability to occasionally travel to four East Metro clinic locations as a float medical receptionist
• Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
• Ability to navigate computerized scheduling system (Cerner) and to operate standard office equipment including multi-line telephone, computer and fax machine
• Knowledge of insurance preferred
