Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Kent, OH is seeking a full-time Patient Access Specialist to support registration, scheduling, and insurance verification. You will serve as a front-line ambassador, ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to EMR documentation.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year in a medical office or patient-facing setting, strong computer skills, and proficiency with EMR systems such as Cerner or Centricity. Experience with MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; college degree or progress toward degree preferred.
• Prior experience in a medical office or patient-facing healthcare setting preferred; 1+ year in customer service/scheduling strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; able to learn scheduling and registration processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a front-line representative handling patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and customer service tasks.
• Ensure accurate check-in/check-out, verify coverage, obtain authorizations, and document in the EMR.
• Assist patients, clinical staff, and referring providers with financial counseling and coordination of services across locations.
• Greet patients professionally and provide clear, helpful information; support chart preparation for upcoming appointments.

• Base Pay $17.00 - $23.00 / Hour

The Essentials

• Schedule:Full-Time (40 hrs/week) | Monday-Friday | 6:45AM-7PM
• Location: Kent, OH
• Specialties:Outpatient Orthopedics, Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy, Pain Management, MRI

What You’ll Do

• Serves as a key front-line representative of the organization, providing comprehensive support across patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and customer service functions.
• Ensure an accurate, efficient, and positive experience for patients by completing check-in and check-out processes, verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and maintaining complete and compliant documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Act as a resource for patients, clinical staff, and referring providers, assisting with financial counseling, benefits education, and coordination of services across multiple locations.
• Greet patients professionally and complete the check-in/check-out process. Answer patient questions and provide accurate, helpful information. Provide strong customer service and represent the organization positively. Performs chart preparation tasks to support upcoming appointments.

What We’re Looking For

• Education:High School or GED required. College degree or progress towards degree preferred.
• Experience:Prior experience working in a medical office or patient-facing healthcare environment preferred. Minimum of 1 year of customer service, registration, scheduling, or patient access–related experience strongly preferred.
• Skills:Strong computer skills and familiarity with office equipment required. Ability to navigate and use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, such as Cerner or Centricity. Ability to learn and train others on scheduling, registration, eligibility verification, and front-desk processes (if applicable to training responsibilities). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
