Christiana Care Neighborhood Hospitals, LLC is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison between patients, payers and the care team in a PRN day shift. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, and secure payments to support hospital reimbursement.

Key duties include EMTALA/HIPAA compliance, accurate data entry, obtaining authorizations, and maintaining records. The role emphasizes customer service, accurate registration, and coordination of transfers when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors is required.
• Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus in certain markets.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify demographics and enter complete information to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue timely collections and maintain quality customer service.
• Scan and manage medical records and related documentation.
• Coordinate patient transfers when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
