UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to join the Station Medical Center team. This role greets and registers incoming patients, checks them out, and schedules future appointments to maintain smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient appointment time, physician seen, and insurance to be billed; updates appointment status.
• Work on wait/rescheduling lists and schedule patients accordingly.
• Handle system downtime by following alternative workflows.
• Follow workflow procedures for the department.
• Collect copays and enter payments into UPAY; balance daily receipts.
• Check eligibility requirements for special type appointments.
• Register new/established patients with current demographic/insurance data; obtain signatures.
• Communicate effectively with patients to understand AVS needs.
• Answer telephones and direct calls as needed.
• Assist patients with Welcome Kiosks usage and related processes.
• Work on Encounters without Charges report.
• Assist patients with questions about insurance and UPMC/BMA policies.
• Maintain and troubleshoot computer, printer, scanner, and Welcome Kiosk equipment; report malfunctions.
