Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join the OBGYN team at Merrifield. This Full-time Day shift position supports patient intake, registration, scheduling, insurance validation, and financial counseling.

Responsibilities include coordinating across departments, resolving authorization issues, educating patients about kiosks and referrals, and ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance. Minimum education: high school diploma; at least 1 year in patient access.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of patient access experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages complex cases, resolves errors, confirms authorizations, validates, and indexes documents.
• Prepares schedules, tracks records, and navigates multiple systems efficiently.
• Coordinates documentation and follows up on case-related tasks.
• Assesses coverage and initiates financial assistance.
• Applies payer-specific rules, resolves issues, and identifies contract limitations.
• Resolves moderate concerns and tracks follow-ups with patients.
• Educates patients and reports usage trends on kiosks.
• Coordinates with departments, tailors messaging, and supports patients.
• Validates insurance and tracks referral status.
• Schedules specialty visits and coordinates preparation.
• Coordinates special needs transport.
• Resolves minor chart issues and assists with release of information (ROI).
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

Education
