Patient Access Specialist – 2nd Shift

Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Rockford, IL is seeking a Patient Access Associate to ensure accurate medical records, verify demographics, insurance coverage and guarantor information, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients. The role requires strong customer service and the ability to navigate multi-payer scenarios.

Work hours are 3pm-11:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a weekend rotation every other weekend and two holidays per year.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Knowledge: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
• Skills: Problem solving, conflict management, time management, and strong oral/written communication.
• Role training and certification in revenue cycle within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record (demographics, insurance, guarantor).
• Explain financial responsibilities to patients for services provided.
• Provide excellent patient service over the phone or in person; create a positive first impression.
• Navigate a complex, multi-payer environment to resolve issues.
