Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking Patient Registrars to join our fast-paced hospital teams, providing a welcoming first point of contact for patients while ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, and financial responsibility collection.

No prior healthcare experience is required; successful candidates should be comfortable with technology, typing, and working in a sometimes-high-pressure environment. Expect weekend and holiday rotations with a 40-hour schedule and second shift hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of third-party payors preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Comfort with computer systems, navigation, typing and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming first contact for patients and assist with registration and insurance verification.
• Verify demographic, guarantor and billing information in the system.
• Collect co-pays and self-pay payments where applicable.
• Assist patient transitions to appropriate units and coordinate with hospital staff.
• Maintain cash drawer and adhere to cash handling policies.
