Job summary

This role is responsible for patient registration, scheduling support, medical record management, communication coordination, and front desk operations within a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment.Duties and Responsibilities:Patient & Visitor ExperienceGreet patients and family members in a professional and welcoming mannerVerify and obtain accurate demographic and insurance informationEnsure patients and families receive information regarding surgical/pain procedures and other concernsMaintain the coffee bar, waiting room, and waiting room restroom areas for patients and visitorsAssist visitors, patients, physicians, and staff while demonstrating excellent guest relationsCommunication & CoordinationMaintain and manage the multi-line phone switchboardAct as a liaison between the recovery room, operating rooms, and waiting roomCommunicate professionally and efficiently with patients, families, physicians, and staffDistribute incoming and outgoing mailRegistration, Documentation & Medical RecordsComplete patient registration and obtain required patient/guardian signaturesCreate accurate chart labels and patient identification bandsPerform data entry into the medical record systemScan and maintain medical records and internal clerical/clinical documentsParticipate in chart preparation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracyVerify completeness and filing of all patient medical recordsEnsure all required documentation is entered into the electronic system for future referenceEnsure physicians dictate and sign operative notes following procedures; follow up directly with physicians regarding missing informationCopy and email surgeons’ and assistants’ transcribed reports as requiredFinancial & Administrative ResponsibilitiesReceive patient payments and process cash, check, and credit card transactions according to policyOrder supplies for the organization as neededQuality, Safety & ComplianceMaintain patient confidentiality at all timesPerform efficiently and appropriately during emergenciesTeamwork & FlexibilityPrioritize responsibilities to support efficient operations and quality patient careDemonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the Surgery CenterSupport a positive, team-oriented work environmentPerform other duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
