Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Admitting Clerk to handle patient admissions, assign medical record numbers, verify insurance, and process physician orders. The role emphasizes patient-centered service and accurate documentation within a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years in customer service, holds a High School Diploma or GED, and will complete CRCR within 6 months of hire (company-paid). On-site position with collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services.
• Assign MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
• Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information.
• Receive and process physician orders; relay calls as needed via switchboard.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and inform Medicare patients of potential non-payment.
• Distribute and document designated forms and pamphlets.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards (Press Ganey).

Job description

• Performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital.
• Assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, providing proper patient instructions, collecting insurance information, receiving and processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool while providing excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
• Operating the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls as applicable.
• Managing point‑of‑service goals as assigned.
• Accurate screening of medical necessity using Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software to inform Medicare patients of possible non‑payment of tests by Medicare and distribution of the ABN as appropriate.
• Distribution and documentation of other designated forms and pamphlets.

Requirements

• 1+ years of customer service experience
• Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation, including AI, to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences.
• High School Diploma/GED
• CRCR required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
