Job summary

St. Luke’s Health - The Woodlands Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to perform patient registration and admitting across hospital access points, including the Emergency Department and main registration.

You will verify demographics, insurance eligibility, and account information, support scheduling, and communicate with patients and families to ensure a positive experience while upholding privacy and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, required at hire.
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation.
• Familiarity with health insurance payers and real-time eligibility verifications.
• Strong accuracy and accountability in handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Handle patient registration across access points with accurate demographics and insurance verification.
• Scan, index, and manage patient documentation for billing and clinical workflows.
• Explain financial responsibilities to patients and collect payments when appropriate.
• Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments to support timely access.
• Resolve routine discrepancies and escalate complex issues per workflows.
• Provide patient assistance via phone and other channels, documenting interactions.
