Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Clinical Services Specialist in Iowa City to provide patient access, scheduling, wayfinding and support to ensure efficient delivery of health care services and an excellent patient experience.

Primary duties include check-in/check-out coverage, coordinating appointment scheduling, preparing pre-registration materials, obtaining pre-authorizations, and educating patients about billing responsibilities, with collaboration across clinical teams to

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.

Responsibilities

Provide Patient Access Services to Clinical and Non-Clinical Departments: Perform Check in/Check out duties and provide coverage in other scheduling areas as needed.
Coordinate patient appointment scheduling and prepare pre-registration paperwork for patient visits; obtain and verify pre-authorizations and educate patients regarding billing processes and financial responsibilities.
Work independently and with peers to complete scheduling and reschedule lists; assist with problem solving of scheduling issues.
Follow scheduling policies and clinic guidelines to facilitate patient appointments.
Provide scheduling coverage in staff absence and maintain Epic Work Queue and In-baskets at acceptable levels.
Review patient charges to ensure accuracy and answer questions concerning billing procedures and charges.
Attend scheduling staff meetings and other duties as assigned.
