Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Registration or Scheduling Coordinator to manage physician appointment scheduling, admission, pre-registration, insurance verification, and patient liability determination. The coordinator provides accurate, up-to-date information to clinical staff and patients, ensuring seamless communication and coordination across all product and service line areas.

Location: University Hospital. Scheduled Hours: 40.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum six months of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Proficiency with PC, Windows, Excel, and intranet/internet navigation tools.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and third-party reimbursement processes (preferred).
• Ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, including management and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving and presentation skills.
• High level of customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a lively environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule return appointments and other assigned appointments.
• Collect and verify accurate appointment, demographic, and insurance information to support clinical and financial needs.
• Coordinate physician and consumer requests, providing support across product and service line areas.
• Resolve routine and complex customer problems and instruct patients or staff on where to address specific questions.
• Communicate regularly with clinical staff, medical secretaries, and product/service line staff to meet customer and department needs.
• Use a variety of software packages, including the Electronic Medical Record, scheduling and registration systems, ABN, eligibility, document management software, and other relevant tools.
