Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Part Time RUSH Access Center Specialist I in Chicago to manage clinical and non-clinical calls, schedule and triage appointments, and support revenue cycle. The position requires a high school diploma (bachelors preferred), strong communication skills, 40 WPM typing, and proficiency with Salesforce, Genesys, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
• Bilingual skills a plus.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
• Excellent communication and outstanding customer service and listening skills required.
• Must be able to type 40 WPM and use Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

• Answers all telephone calls within your work assignment as designated by leadership to accurately schedule patients per Epic guidelines.
• Evaluates non-scheduling related patient inquiries and routes/escalates them per Epic guidelines including RN triage transfers.
• Assesses caller needs and resolves inquiries with sound judgment; escalates when needed.
• Utilizes Salesforce and Genesys to optimize patient interactions and document accurately in integrated systems.
• Monitors areas of concern and suggests resolutions around Epic build issues related to access.
• Adheres to Epic scheduling processes and department workflows; documents appointment information clearly.
• Supports revenue cycle by discussing financial responsibility and arranging referrals; completes after-call processing.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions.
