Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Part Time Access Center Specialist I to manage clinical and non-clinical calls, perform scheduling, triage, message taking, and referral management. You will collaborate with the Access Center team and practice staff to meet access, revenue cycle, and scheduling goals while delivering outstanding patient service.

The role requires a high school diploma; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and outstanding customer service and listening skills required.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills essential.
  • Must be team-oriented, open minded, flexible, and willing to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Typing 40 WPM and basic Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all calls and schedule patients per guidelines.
  • Route inquiries to RN triage or clinics when needed.
  • Assess caller needs and escalate when appropriate.
  • Document and route patient information using Epic and related systems.
  • Support revenue cycle by discussing financial responsibilities with patients.
