Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge is seeking a Patient Access Specialist responsible for registration, scheduling, pre-registration, and verifications within a comprehensive patient access role for the clinic.

You will verify demographics and insurance, collect payments at time of service, obtain authorizations, and communicate with clinical staff to prevent missed authorizations while guiding patients to available financial programs and support resources.

Qualifications

• Hospital/clinic patient access experience preferred.
• Ability to provide customer-focused service to internal and external patients.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect co-pays/deductibles; verify authorization when applicable.
• Schedule appointments, diagnostics, treatments and follow-ups; coordinate with outside physicians.
• Perform pre-registration and registration; verify demographics and insurance; collect payments.
• Communicate with clinical staff to ensure authorizations are not missed; maintain compliance.
• Advise patients on programs and direct them to financial navigator or assistance as needed.
