Job summary

Union Community Care is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I to deliver excellent customer service and efficiently handle patient registration, exit, and appointment scheduling across Union Community Care sites.

You will verify insurance information, apply sliding fee discounts, and coordinate with care teams to support a smooth patient experience while maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate data.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; administrative assistant or medical assistant degrees preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and accurate data entry.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR systems.
• English proficiency required; HIPAA compliance knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients and visitors; set a welcoming tone.
• Handle incoming calls and provide information on access and services.
• Verify patient demographics and insurance information; apply sliding fee policy.
• Process registrations, check-ins, and co-pays at time of visit.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments; manage portals and communications.
• Maintain accurate patient records and prepare daily cashier reports.
