Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in hospital or outpatient admitting setting.
• Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Electronic medical records experience a plus.
• 40 WPM typing/keyboard skills preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triage patient intake for appointment scheduling and review prior visit history.
• Obtain initial patient demographics, including referring/ordering physician and third party information.
• Collect accurate demographic and financial information to establish a medical record and billing account; facilitate third party billing.
• Document hospital forms and ensure compliance with JCAHO regulations.
• Inform patients of insurance information, co-pays, deductibles, or deposits; provide out-of-pocket estimates.
• Manage work queues to resolve errors and ensure proper billing.
• Direct patients and visitors, escort to service sites as needed.
• Cross-train to cover front desk, scheduling, and registration for multiple departments.
