The University of Miami UHealth – department of Patient Access at SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Access Representative.

Job Summary

The Patient Services Associate projects a professional and welcoming demeanor and welcomes visitors (vendors, customers, patients, staff, students, etc.) to the department by promptly greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring their inquiries appropriately.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Serve as Patient Advocate and Service Ambassador by providing a favorable first impression and proactive attention to internal and external customers to meet or exceed expectations, address concerns, and optimize experience.
  2. Perform all on-site patient access registration functions promptly without compromising patient safety, quality, service levels, and reimbursement.
  3. Comply with all established UHealth policies and procedures related to Patient Access and State/Federal regulations.
  4. Identify and collect patient’s self-pay responsibility including co-pays, deductibles, co-insurances, self-pay discount rates, global packages, and previous outstanding balances for both technical and professional components, thereby playing a key role in reducing AR, Bad Debt, and Collection Costs by collecting patient’s financial responsibility upfront.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.

Core Requirements
  • Patient Access Associate: High School Diploma required
  • Patient Access Representative 1: High School Diploma and one year of relevant experience required
  • Patient Access Representative 2: High School Diploma and two years of relevant experience required
  • Patient Access Representative 3: High School Diploma and three years of relevant experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Creole, English/French, English/Arabic) a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and customer service skills.
  • Mathematical and cash management skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, complex, and stressful environment.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians, co-workers, other departments, and patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in multiple electronic systems such as UChart, Cadence/Prelude, Enterprise Billing, Passport, RIS-PACS, CaneCare, UMCare, and others.

Any relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
