Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for checking patients in for appointments and accurately verifying demographics.
  2. Ensures all check-in procedures are completed and monitors patient wait times, communicating changes to the patient as necessary.
  3. Reads and interprets insurance responses.
  4. Understands general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
  5. Ensures patients receive necessary disclosures and privacy information, obtaining necessary legal and financial signatures.
  6. Communicates financial obligations to patients and collects fees at the time of service as appropriate.
  7. Completes all necessary regulatory forms with patients, explaining their purpose.
  8. Schedules follow-up appointments, including any specialty or ancillary services, to complete the patient's visit.
  9. Processes multi-channel messages regarding patient and physician requests, such as appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
  10. Informs patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities, including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances, and collects payments accordingly.
  11. Performs cash posting following department guidelines.
  12. Adheres to organizational and HIPAA guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and rights.
  13. Works independently on work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
  14. Maintains productivity and quality performance expectations.
  15. Maintains a high regard for confidentiality.
  16. Performs accurate medical record maintenance and releases.
  17. Assists with referrals and pre-certifications during encounters.
  18. Utilizes and maintains patient recall and reschedule lists properly.
