Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for checking patients in for appointments and verifying demographics accurately.
  2. Ensure all check-in procedures are completed, monitor patient wait times, and communicate any changes to patients as necessary.
  3. Read and interpret insurance responses.
  4. Understand general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
  5. Ensure patients receive necessary disclosures and privacy information, and obtain required legal and financial signatures.
  6. Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
  7. Complete all regulatory forms with patients, explaining their purpose.
  8. Schedule follow-up appointments, including any specialty or ancillary services, to complete the patient's visit.
  9. Process messages related to patient and physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
  10. Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities, including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances, and collect payments accordingly.
  11. Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
  12. Follow organizational and HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality and rights.
  13. Work independently on work queues to resolve all accounts timely.
  14. Maintain productivity and quality performance standards.
  15. Uphold a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  16. Maintain and release medical records accurately.
  17. Assist with referrals and pre-certifications during encounters.
  18. Utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists properly.
