Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Bath Health and Wellness Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative - AGP to join a leading healthcare system in the Akron area. You will handle patient registrations, collect insurance information and assist families, setting a positive tone at first contact.

Evening shifts 3:00pm-11:00pm or 11:00am-7:00pm with every other weekend and rotating holidays. The role emphasizes empathy and accurate data capture within Epic, contributing to smooth patient flow

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact
  • OR an Associate's Degree and one year of experience
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic

As a Patient Access Representative, you willbe the first person the patient will interact with once they are through security, allowing you tosetthe tone for how the visit goes. Patients are not at their best during an Emergency Department visit, requiring this caregiver to have empathy.Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians,and family membersandmaking each patient’s day better.

A caregiver in this position workseveningsfrom3:00PM - 11:00PM, includingevery other weekendand rotating holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing rolewith in-person or phone contact

  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
