Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Green Health and Wellness Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join the Patient Registration team. Responsibilities include pre-registering patients, greeting them in the Emergency Department, verifying information, and collecting copays for diagnostic services.

You will also pre-register for outpatient services and cross-train across patient access areas, with EPIC access and potential for growth within the system.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with two years in a customer-facing role; OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience; OR a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Preferred qualifications: EPIC knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-register and greet patients in the Emergency Department, verify information and collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services.
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access (front desk, admitting, ED, cash register).
  • Function as a Super User and train new caregivers; provide registration and cash-collection access in Epic.

Education

As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patientsin the Emergency Department, verifyinformationand collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family membersandsettingthe tone for howtheirvisit to the Emergency Department goes.

A caregiver in this position worksdays from 7:00AM – 3:00PM or 11:00AM – 7:00PM.

*Please note that if you are selected, you will need to attend a 2-week EPIC training starting on your first day. The training is Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM on-site atAkron General. You will need to attendall daysof this training. Once the training is complete, you will then startworkon your assigned schedule/shift.In order tobe considered, you will need to acknowledge that you are able to attend the full duration of thetraining.*

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform registration andcompletean accurateface-to-faceinterview to obtain demographic, insurance,medicaland financial information.
  • Crosstrain tostaffall areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office,EDand cash register.
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource fortraining ofnew caregivers.
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing rolewithinperson or phone contact
  • OR anAssociate’s Degreeand one year of experience
  • OR aBachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • EPIC knowledge

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
