Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Bath Health and Wellness Center seeks a Patient Access Representative to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance info, and route them through the admission process using Epic.

This evening shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) includes every other weekend and rotating holidays; candidates should have strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work across front desk, admitting, ED, and cash register.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a customer-facing role with in-person or phone contact
• OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience
• OR a Bachelor’s Degree
• Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
• Basic PC software knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Responsibilities

• Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
• Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards.
• Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
• Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.

Education

High School Diploma or GED with 2 years customer-facing experience

As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first person the patient will interact with once they are through security, allowing you to set the tone for how the visit goes. Patients are not at their best during an Emergency Department visit, requiring this caregiver to have empathy. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians, and family members and making each patient’s day better.

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:00PM, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

• In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $15.75

Maximum hourly: $21.65
