Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • One year of relevant experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient registration procedures and health insurance payers; real-time insurance eligibility verifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient registration and admitting functions across assigned access areas, including the Emergency Department, main registration, admitting, and other patient access points.
  • Gather, verify, and update demographic, insurance, and account information to ensure accurate patient records and timely access to care.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, communicate patient financial responsibility, and collect point-of-service payments when appropriate.
  • Schedule, confirm, and revise appointments while supporting provider and clinic workflows.
  • Scan, index, and manage patient documentation within the electronic health record to support registration, billing, and clinical processes.
  • Identify and resolve routine registration, insurance, and encounter issues, elevate complex situations as needed, and provide patient support by phone and other approved communication channels.

Job description

As a Patient Access Representative, you’ll play an important role in creating a positive first impression for our patients and families. You’ll support registration, admitting, scheduling, and patient access functions across various hospital access points while helping ensure each patient’s information is accurate, complete, and handled with care.

Your ability toprovide excellent customer service, communicate clearly, work efficiently across multiple systems, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment will help support smooth patient access operations and a seamless patient experience.

To be successful in this role, you’llneed strong attention to detail, confidence using technology, the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, and a commitment to supporting patients, families, and care teams with compassion and accuracy.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED required.

  • One (1) year of relevant experience in healthcare, patient access setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following: patient registration procedures and documentation, knowledge of health insurance payers, and real-time insurance eligibility verifications preferred.
