RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative at the MMC Southern Campus in Lakewood, NJ. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while collecting accurate demographic and insurance data and guiding patients through the registration process.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients, verifying insurance, obtaining signatures, and ensuring completeness of forms and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Customer service experience required.
• Medical terminology experience preferred.
• Patient Access experience preferred.
• Must report to Monmouth Medical Center Southern campus in Lakewood, NJ.
• 40 hours per week, day shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers.
• Interview patients, family members and other parties to gather demographic and financial information for scheduling, pre-registration and/or registration.
• Obtain and document all demographic information to accurately identify the patient; verify insurance information and authorization status as needed.
• Ensure all orders/prescriptions have proper signatures and are linked to the correct encounter where applicable.
• Meet and exceed department goals for accuracy, point-of-service collections and productivity.
• Ensure all required forms are provided, explained and signed by the patient or approved person.
• Inform patients of financial responsibility and collect appropriate payments for services.

Job Overview:

The Patient Access Representative position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely. A core function of this position is to ensure that all customers, external and internal, are treated with the highest level of respect. Clearly review and communicate all forms and obtain required signatures for services provided. The Patient Access Representative ensures accuracy and thoroughness in collection and documentation of the patient's demographic and insurance information and utilizes the technology available to complete the registration. The Patient Access Representativeparticipates in creating a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction.

As a Patient Accounts Representative, a typical daymight include:

• Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers.
• Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling, pre-registration and/or registration based on assigned work.
• Obtains and documents all demographic information to accurately identify the patient. Obtains insurance information, completes insurance verification and verifies appropriate authorization status, if required.
• Ensures that all orders/prescriptions are compliant with appropriate signatures, proper documentation of diagnosis, patient identifiers and are linked to the correct encounter, as applicable.
• Meets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point of service collections and productivity.
• Ensures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained and signed by the patient or an approved person on behalf of the patient.
• Informs patient of financial responsibility and collects appropriate dollar amount for services to be rendered.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary.
• May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.
