Job summary

Centerpoint Health - Georgetown is seeking a Patient Access Representative to collect patient demographics, verify benefits, and obtain authorizations as needed at the point of service. This role supports ER Registration and outpatient admissions with a focus on accuracy and patient-centric service.

You will help expedite admissions, handle co-pays, protect privacy, and provide excellent customer service while working across outpatient lobby and ER registration.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn multiple software systems quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Collect patient demographics, insurance, and financial information accurately.
  • Verify benefits and obtain authorizations as needed.

What we're looking for

The Patient Access Representative collects patient demographic, insurance, and financial information for outpatient services and inpatient admissions.Verifies benefits, obtains authorizations as needed, and collects co-pays/deductibles at the point of service to efficiently expedite the admitting process. Provides a positive first impression of the facility. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. This role is for ER Registration

How you'll contribute

  • Ensure all required demographic, billing, and clinical data are obtained and accurately entered into the registration system in a timely manner.
  • Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients and families.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
  • Determine and accepts required payments (e.g., co-pays, deductibles) or refers to financial counseling as appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally in-person and by phone; provides clear instructions and excellent customer service.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in all registration activities.
  • Participate in performance improvement and required education.
  • Work alternate shifts/areas as needed to support department operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Critical thinking, decisive judgment.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
    • Rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems.
    • Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand).
    • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Schedule: PRN - As Needed. Possible rotation between outpatient lobby and ER registration. All shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
