Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred 2 years in a medical office.
• Preferred experience in insurance procedures.
• Preferred experience in medical appointment scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing telephone calls.
• Accurately schedule and re-schedule patient appointments in a timely manner.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefit eligibility; refer families to financial counselors.
• Pre-register specific data elements prior to the patient’s scheduled date of service.
• Perform all aspects of insurance verifications and update billing system accordingly.
• Obtain authorizations and pre-certifications as required for procedures.
• Handle correspondence from Insurance companies to HIM for scanning.
• Create reports for tracking and trending purposes.
• Alter provider schedule templates in the EMR as needed.
• Assist with departmental coverage as requested.
