Job summary

Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia is seeking a Part-time/Per Diem Patient Access Rep to greet, pre-register and register patients while verifying insurance benefits and pre-certification requirements. The role includes handling patient signatures and collecting financial responsibility as needed.

The position supports revenue cycle activities and flexibility to rotate through patient access areas, with days, nights, weekends and holidays as required by a rotating schedule, helping maintain

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalency required.
• Outpatient registration experience preferred.
• Minimum one year in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Verify insurance benefits and check for pre-certification/authorization requirements.
• Obtain patient signatures for required forms and collect financial responsibility when needed.
• Provide professional, quality customer service and coordinate services to all customers.
• Communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and hospital colleagues.
• Rotate into various areas of patient access and work a variety of shifts.

Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Job Title: Patient Access Rep Employment Type: Per Diem Shift: PRN, days, nights primarily. Weekend and holiday requirements. Location: Nazareth Hospital - Philadelphia, PA

Position Purpose

The primary function of the position is to greet, pre-register and/or register patients in a courteous and professional manner, verify insurance benefits and check for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization and referral. Perform medical necessity checks where needed. Secure patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient’s financial responsibility when required. The position is also responsible for providing professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers. The position functions to communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and other hospital colleagues. This position rotates into various areas of patient access and may work a variety of shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalency
• Associate degree (Preferred)
• Minimum one (1) year experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service
• Must have Outpatient Registration experience
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
