Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative I-PRN to support front-office operations at hospital-based clinics. The role involves registration, insurance verification, and patient communication, with a focus on compassionate, compliant service.

MLS access may require travel to on- and off-campus locations. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years in customer service, with preference for clinical/medical office experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years' experience in a Customer Service field preferred.
• 2 years' experience in a Clinical/Medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register/Register patients for scheduled/unscheduled services, inpatient/outpatient procedures within all applicable hospital based areas.
• Interview patient(s) and/or their representative to obtain demographic/insurance information or verify information on file.
• Obtain copies of necessary identification and insurance cards.
• Document information in the registration system per standards.
• Process consent forms and initiate Advance Directive when applicable.
• Inform patients of visit status during delays and coordinate insurance verification as needed.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and balances per policy.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information.
• Greet and direct patients; assist with escorts as needed.
• Collaborate with physician offices and insurance teams for pre-certifications.
