Job summary

Sovah Health in Danville, VA is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to support outpatient registration in the Emergency Department. This PRN/variable schedule role involves collecting and entering demographic and billing information and helping patients navigate the intake process.

The position emphasizes accuracy, empathy, and efficiency while handling insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and payment arrangements. On-site registration experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Prior authorization or insurance verification experience is preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service and/or health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures demographic, billing and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
• Distributes forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients and/or family members.
• Verifies insurance benefits and validates authorizations/pre-certifications.
• Completes estimations, reviews upfront collections process, processes payments, establishes payment arrangements, and reviews patient's propensity to pay and escalates accordingly.
