Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is seeking a part-time Patient Access Representative to perform pre-registration, registration and admission functions in the Emergency Department. You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, ensure accurate demographics and coordinate bed assignments.

The role requires medical terminology skills and strong communication and customer service abilities. Per diem shifts and a rotating schedule are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• Medical terminology skills required.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance requirements.
• Collect co-pays and high deductibles upfront.
• Ensure demographic, financial and advance directive data accuracy.
• Input data into Meditech system.
• Complete all phases of registration and related documents.
• Coordinate bed assignments and release information to funeral homes.
