Job summary

Johnson Memorial Hospital and Home & Community Health Services is seeking a part-time patient registration specialist to support pre-registration and admission processes in a hospital setting. The role involves collecting demographic, insurance and patient liability information and coordinating with multiple hospital systems.

Orientation is Mon-Fri 8:00 am to 4:30 pm for 2-3 weeks, with half the time spent at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school or equivalent.
• One year experience in hospital or physician's office preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and interview skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and devices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
• Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are completed
• Collects non-covered fees
