Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, or a minimum 5 years of healthcare-related clerical experience in lieu of diploma.
• Previous hospital experience in scheduling, registration or billing preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Registers, schedules and verifies each account in hospital registration system following all departmental procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Documents communications with patients, family, insurance and physicians in the system and notes any exceptions.
• Follows federal and state standards, including MSP form and DOBI consent.
• Utilizes Imaging system by scanning paperwork during registration, scheduling and verification.
• Completes quality checks and reviews registrations for accuracy.
• Maintains communication with ED, nursing units and physicians to ensure proper patient placement and flow.
• Completes bedside registration with privacy and accuracy using laptops.
• Handles ED receptionist duties during breaks and supports after-hours pre-certification of surgeries/procedures.
