Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative to be the first point of contact and accurately collect patient demographics, insurance coverage, and financial responsibility. You will help ensure timely payments and high patient satisfaction across revenue cycle workflows.

Utilizing EPIC electronic medical records, you will verify eligibility, explain coverage to patients, and coordinate with care teams while maintaining HIPAA compliance and delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service skills and ability to interact with patients and staff.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication, professional demeanor, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Create the initial electronic health record foundation for patient care and ensure patient safety by proper identification.
• Check in and register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and ensure timely billing.
• Explain insurance basics, discuss financial responsibilities with patients, and refer to Financial Advocates as needed.
• Understand and apply HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulations, obtain signatures as required.
• Coordinate appointments, provide directions, and assist patients with transportation or interpreter services.
• Maintain welcoming, professional environment and respond to routine information requests and phone calls.
• Monitor EHR work queues and follow department procedures.
