Job summary

Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) in Silver City, NM seeks a Patient Access Representative to greet and register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect copays, and route inquiries. You will support scheduling and authorizations as needed and maintain HIPAA compliance.

The role requires strong data entry, customer service, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency with Outlook and basic computer tasks. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years college preferred.
• Customer service experience required, with insurance billing preferred.
• Familiar with medical terminology and HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients accurately, timely and courteously with 95% data-entry accuracy.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains prior authorizations when required.
• Collects copayments and deductibles; explains discounts per hospital policy.
• Answers phones and transfers calls; operates central alarm system.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA and provides front-line customer service to visitors.
• Communicates with Radiology and other departments regarding authorizations, rescheduling and denials.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in staff meetings and on-call programs.
