Job summary

Phelps Health is seeking a Patient Services Representative to facilitate patient access to healthcare services. You will greet patients, collect information, and guide them through the initial stages of their healthcare experience.

Responsibilities include confirming demographics, verifying insurance, explaining benefits, collecting payments, and maintaining HIPAA compliance while delivering excellent customer service in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Six months of office and/or call center, customer service or healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computers and other standard office equipment required.
• Proficiency in data entry preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited medical receptionist or similar program, or two years in a health care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming and efficient environment for patients, addressing their needs, and providing support throughout the initial stages of their healthcare journey.
• Collect accurate demographic information and enter it into the system; update records and obtain consents as required.
• Verify patients' insurance coverage and ensure correct coverage on the patient’s account.
• Ensure necessary pre-authorizations or referrals are obtained and explain benefits to patients.
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering phones promptly and professionally.
