Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least six months of office, call center, customer service or healthcare experience preferred.
• Proficiency in data entry is preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited medical receptionist program or two years in a health care setting is preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment for patients and provide support during initial stages of care.
• Collect demographic information and enter it into the system.
• Update patient records with changes and obtain necessary consents.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations or referrals as needed.
• Explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Answer phones promptly and professionally, addressing concerns and providing information.
• Adhere to HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and balance payments per hospital policy.
• Maintain work queues to support efficient claims processing.
• Assist patients with navigating and using the online portal.
• Adapt to shifting work assignments based on business needs.
