Job summary

Baptist Health in Central Alabama is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist to handle pre-registration and registration; verify patient benefits, coordinate with financial counseling, and collect patient responsibility at the point of service.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with 2+ years in a hospital access or financial services environment, and familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-registration and registration with accurate patient demographic and benefit information.
• Identify payers and verify eligibility and benefits; coordinate with COB.
• Refer patients to financial counseling and collect at point of service.
• Enter data accurately into the computer systems and ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, EMTALA).
• Understand Medicare/Medicaid requirements and ensure correct messages and signage.
