Job summary

Baptist Health in Central Alabama is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist to manage pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, and referrals to financial counseling. You will ensure accurate entry of patient demographic and benefit data, verify eligibility, and determine at the point of service the patient’s financial responsibility.

Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid basics, HIPAA, EMTALA, and related regulatory requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in healthcare or business preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification.
• Refer to financial counseling and point of service collections.
• Verify benefits eligibility and determine patient financial responsibility.
• Data entry of patient demographics and benefits information with accuracy.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate degree preferred

Bilingual English/Spanish desirable
