Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology course (college level) preferred.
  • Six months to one year experience in admission/registration.
  • Understanding of insurance coverage and medical terminology.
  • Typing speed 25 wpm.
  • 2-3 years' experience with Windows OS and Windows-based programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with hospital personnel to maximize patient data registration and refer information to Financial Counselor for follow-up.
  • Accurately identify insurance data in the HIS to ensure proper billing information.
  • Gather government-manded statistical information via screening forms and data fields in HIS.
  • Collect deposits and/or co-payments at or before registration.
  • Obtain signatures on all required forms.
  • Interact professionally with staff and the public.
  • Schedule patient appointments and enter information in the computer system accurately.
  • Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • May be assigned other duties as required.
