Job summary

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) seeks a Registration Clerk to support clinical services by ensuring accurate patient demographics and data entry for accounts. The role involves greeting patients, guiding flows, verifying coverage, collecting payments, and facilitating access to financial assistance and translation resources.

Responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, collaborating with care teams, and adhering to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in clinic, healthcare setting, or call setting preferred.
• Complete Registration Clerk I competency checklist within 6 months of hire.
• Complete MOAB de-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service when checking patients in and out, scheduling follow-ups, and answering questions in person or by phone.
• Oversee the waiting area, coordinate patient flow, and report issues.
• Obtain consent, update demographics, and ensure accurate documentation and data entry.
• Verify insurance coverage, identify co-pays, and collect information to prevent claim denials.
• Collect and process patient payments with accurate posting and reconciliation.
• Discuss financial assistance options and ensure applications are complete.
• Connect patients with clinic resources such as translation, benefits, or engagement services.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and secure the building.
• If in Behavioral Health Registration, coordinate with behavioral case managers for appointments.
